KATHRYN HOLT RICHARDSON 
 

 

Kathryn Holt Richardson brings over a decade of career counseling to her role as an attorney search consultant.  She has successfully placed partners and associates at law firms as well as  attorneys at various levels within in-house legal departments.  In early 2004, Kathy co-founded the Austin office of the legal search firm of Major, Lindsey & Africa where she served as Managing Director and head of the Texas associate recruiting practice group. Prior to that, Kathy spent six years with the University of Texas School of Law Career Services Office and served as the Assistant Dean for Career Services from 1998-2004. While at The University of Texas, Kathy counseled thousands of law students and lawyers pursuing both traditional and non-traditional career paths. She has been a frequent presenter for the National Association of Law Placement (NALP) and was the Vice Chairperson of NALP's Recruitment Practices Committee and an active member of NALP's diversity committee. In 2005 Kathy was a featured speaker at the first annual Corporate Counsel Women of Color Conference in New York and recently was a panelist at UT Law School's Women in the Law program.
In the fall of 2003, Kathy helped design and present a day long career assessment and development workshop for the State Bar of Texas called Take Charge of Your Law Career. Kathy has also been a presenter on career related panels and workshops at several prominent law schools including Harvard University, Boalt Hall and The University of Virginia.
Kathy received her J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law in 1995 and she graduated from The American University in Washington, D.C. in 1991 with a B.A. in International Affairs.  While an undergraduate, she had the opportunity to work at American  University's Career Center were she helped graduate students find work abroad. Following law school, she received a fellowship with the National Association for Public Interest Law in Washington D.C. where she had an opportunity to meet law students from across the country and provide career resources and advice.
