Our client is seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious, and self-motivated attorney with a passion for writing and strong technical drafting and editing skills to join their legal services team. Candidates should have significant knowledge and/or experience in representing owners and operators of gathering systems, storage facilities, processing and treatment plants, interstate and intrastate pipelines, and LNG facilities in their commercial arrangements, including the negotiation and drafting of some of the following agreements: gathering and processing agreements (including compression, treatment, and fractionation agreements); transportation agreements (whether by rail, truck, or vessel); transportation service and capacity rights agreements; pipeline interconnection, expansion, and extension agreements; storage, exchange, and terminalling agreements; crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids marketing contracts; offtake agreements, including throughput, gas purchase and sale, and LNG purchase and sale agreements; ship-or-pay agreements; tolling agreements; and facility operations and maintenance agreements. In addition, experience and familiarity in any of the following areas of the oil and gas sector is a plus (but not required): representing midstream companies and/or other parties in mergers, acquisitions, and sales of oil and gas (or related) assets and properties; representing midstream companies in general corporate governance and other business matters; advising midstream companies on aspects of environmental law; representing midstream companies or lenders in the financing of oil and gas assets and projects on a limited recourse or corporate financing basis; and advising midstream companies, lenders and/or other parties on oil and gas regulation and permitting issues and requirements. Ideal candidates will also have strong academic credentials, excellent management and organizational skills, and a collaborative spirit.
Responsibilities of the position include:
- Developing ideas for midstream oil and gas resources and driving planning of published content.
- Developing, writing, and editing a wide variety of know-how and current awareness resources on oil and gas matters (including practice guidance notes, standard documents, checklists, and legal updates) for practicing attorney-subscribers, with a focus on midstream-specific resources.
- Collaborating with other editors on content planning and priorities to meet the practice needs of oil and gas lawyers, and to identify and develop new high-value national resources.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with external oil and gas lawyers to find content contributors and to ensure that the midstream content is topical and meets their needs.
- Staying informed of current developments and issues in oil and gas law, to ensure timely updates of existing content and development of new content.
- Working with sales and marketing teams to promote the practice group, including giving presentations at conferences and for potential customers.
Candidates should have at least eight (8) years’ experience working as a transactional lawyer, preferably both at a law firm and in-house, with significant expertise in midstream oil and gas transactions. Compensation is in the high $100K’s, and the new hire will be able to work remotely from home on a permanent basis.
